Sunflower Folk is an early-maturing hybrid developed by VNIL, distinguished by high resistance to herbicides based on tribenuron-methyl, enabling cultivation using the Express technology. This hybrid exhibits genetic resistance to seven ragweed species and various diseases, including false powdery mildew, rust, fusarium, fusariosis, as well as gray and white mold. The vegetation period is 95-105 days, ensuring a high yield potential of up to 5.6 tons per hectare. The plant reaches a height of 165-170 cm and possesses a strong root system, contributing to resistance against lodging. The sunflower head is semi-tilted, with a diameter of 18-20 cm, and oil content of 49-51%. The recommended seeding rate varies depending on soil moisture and ranges from 51,000 to 60,000 seeds per hectare.
Sunflower Flying Saucers, also known as Helianthus, is a tall plant reaching approximately 1.2 meters in height. It is characterized by abundant flowering from July to September, forming numerous solitary yellow flowers oriented sideways, making it ideal for creating bright sunny borders. The leaves of the plant reach a length of 30-40 cm, and the plant itself is undemanding and requires no special care.
For successful cultivation of Helianthus, regular watering is recommended approximately once a week, with increased frequency during hot weather as the topsoil dries. Soil loosening around the plant and timely weeding after each watering are also important. Organic fertilizers are applied once at the beginning of growth. To stimulate prolonged flowering, spent flower heads should be removed before seed formation, which encourages the development of new buds and extends the flowering period.
