Nakra

The Nakra potato variety is a mid-season Russian variety with a maturation period of about 80-85 days. The plant is tall and upright, with medium-sized leaves and red-purple flowers. Tubers are oval-round in shape, with smooth or moderately rough red skin and light-yellow flesh. The marketable tuber weight ranges from 65 to 160 grams, and the number of tubers per plant ranges from 6 to 11. The variety is distinguished by high starch content — from 18.2 to 21.9%, significantly higher than standard values, making it especially suitable for producing crispy potatoes such as French fries and chips.

The yield of the Nakra variety is stable and high: average yield ranges from 203 to 308 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 399 centners per hectare. Tuber marketability ranges from 83-95%, and storability reaches 95%, ensuring good product preservation during storage. The variety is recommended for cultivation in Western and Eastern Siberia, as well as in the Far East.

Nakra exhibits good resistance to potato cancer pathogen, which is an important advantage for agricultural production. However, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight and golden potato cyst nematode, and relatively resistant to Colorado beetle, rizoctonia, and common scab. The tuber flavor quality is good, allowing this potato to be used for preparing various dishes.
