Potato Mayak

Mayak: A Benchmark in Robust Table Potato Cultivation

In the competitive landscape of table potato production, where yield stability and disease resistance are paramount, the "Mayak" variety by Ooo Fh Sedek has established itself as a reliable choice for professional growers. Developed through a collaborative effort between the breeder "Sedek" and the experts at the A.G. Lorch Federal Potato Research Center, this variety embodies the marriage of rigorous scientific research and practical agronomic needs.

Key Agronomic Advantages

The Mayak variety is instantly recognizable due to its distinct oval-shaped tubers and striking red skin. Beyond its visual appeal, which ensures high marketability in retail, the variety is engineered to withstand modern phytosanitary challenges. Its reputation is built on two fundamental pillars of protection:

• Resistance to Potato Wart: Given the persistence of soil-borne pathogens, the innate genetic resistance of Mayak to potato wart (Synchytrium endobioticum) provides farmers with a secure foundation, significantly reducing the dependency on specialized soil treatments.
• Defense Against Viral Threats: The variety exhibits strong tolerance to common viral diseases and various mosaic strains. This biological resilience is crucial for maintaining seed health and ensuring consistent production volumes across multiple growing seasons.

As a specialized table potato, Mayak is designed to meet the rigorous demands of the supply chain—from mechanical harvesting and sorting to long-term storage. By utilizing the genetic resources of the A.G. Lorch Research Center, Ooo Fh Sedek has managed to deliver a product that maintains excellent culinary qualities while minimizing post-harvest losses. For growers, Mayak represents more than just a variety; it is a calculated tool to manage risk in an unpredictable agricultural climate, ensuring that high-quality production is achieved with fewer interventions.
