Description FON BARON RED
Fon Baron Red is an attractive and large-fruited variety of sweet pepper of the 'Rotunda' type, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in polyethylene greenhouses. The plant is compact, medium-leafy, with short internodes and a height of 60 to 80 cm. A mid-early variety, it begins to fruit abundantly after 110-115 days from sowing, allowing harvest in July-August. The bushes are spreading, with large green leaves and medium leafiness. For optimal growth, it is recommended to prune the plant by removing all side shoots and leaves up to the first fork, as well as following a planting scheme of 40x60 cm. Sowing for seedlings is carried out at the end of February, while transplanting into the ground or greenhouse is done at the end of May.

The fruits of Fon Baron Red have a flat-round shape, resembling a small pumpkin, with very thick walls of 8-11 mm, making them especially succulent and meaty. Fruit weight varies from 140 to 360 grams depending on growing conditions, with immature fruits being green and mature fruits having a rich red color with a strong gloss. The fruit surface is smooth with fine ridges. Thick-walled fruits contain four or more chambers, possess excellent taste qualities and good cold resistance, easily tolerating short-term temperature drops.

This variety is versatile in application: fruits are suitable for decorative slicing, portioned salad and meat dish serving, as well as for use as containers for stuffing. Additionally, they are ideal for baking and canning. Thanks to their dense structure and resistance to damage, the fruits retain freshness for a long time and do not crack, making Fon Baron Red one of the most productive and practical varieties for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
