Meteor pea is an early or very early maturing sugar variety with a maturity period from 60 to 75 days from germination. The plant is bushy, dwarf, reaching a height of 40 to 60 cm, with sturdy stems that usually do not require support. Pods are 6 to 9 cm long and contain 5 to 10 dark green, sweet, and juicy peas with high taste and dietary qualities. The peas mature uniformly, which facilitates harvest collection and allows obtaining fresh fruits throughout the summer when seeds are sown in several stages with an interval of 10-15 days. The Meteor variety is distinguished by high cold-hardiness and moisture-lovingness, which allows it to successfully germinate at temperatures from 2 to 5°C and withstand brief frosts down to -6°C. The plant prefers fertile, loamy and loam soils with neutral or weakly acidic reaction, as well as good aeration and sufficient moisture during the vegetation period. For optimal growth, it is recommended to plant peas on well-lit areas, and if necessary, use fertilizers with trace elements, such as boron and molybdenum, to improve crop quality. Meteor peas are widely used fresh, and are also suitable for canning, freezing, and drying. Seeds are sown in open ground from the end of March to the beginning of May; sowing depth depends on soil type and ranges from 3 to 5 cm. Thanks to their high nutritional qualities, peas are an excellent source of plant protein, amino acids, carotene, vitamins, and minerals, making this variety a valuable product for healthy eating.
