VERIDIS is a mid-season cultivar of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) of the leafless type, designed for cultivation in the Ural region, specifically in the Orenburg region and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The vegetation period of the cultivar is 69-73 days. Peas differ in high resistance to drought, as well as to shattering and lodging, which ensures a stable yield. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 192 to 213 grams, seed leaves are green, and the aril is light. The grain is large, well-sorted, with high taste qualities and protein content up to 25.1%. For successful cultivation of VERIDIS, it is important to consider the sensitivity of the crop to excessive weed infestation, which can reduce productivity by 30–50% and more. The most common weeds in pea crops are white goosegrass, common barnyard grass, wild radish, common foxtail, green and blue fat-hen, as well as barnyard millet. For weed control, complex agro-technical and chemical methods are used, which contributes to maintaining high yield and grain quality. Special attention in growing the VERIDIS cultivar is paid to protection from harmful weeds such as green bristlegrass (Setaria viridis). For this purpose, herbicides containing active ingredients clethodim, haloxyfop-P-ethyl, S-metolachlor, and imazapic are used. Among effective preparations are Antigrass, Norvel, Dual Gold, Datonit Gold, and Picador, produced by leading agricultural chemistry manufacturers. Correct use of these products significantly increases the yield and quality of VERIDIS peas.
