Pea variety DEMONS is a medium-late maturing semi-dwarf variety with a vegetative period of 68 to 90 days. Plants reach a height of 40 to 93 cm, which is somewhat lower compared to some other varieties, while possessing enhanced resistance to lodging and shattering. Pods are weakly curved with a blunt tip, seeds are spherical and smooth with yellow cotyledons. The mass of 1000 seeds varies within 173-241 grams, indicating the size and quality of seeds. Flowers are white, and the number of seeds in one pod reaches 5-6, sometimes up to 9 pieces.
Variety DEMONS is distinguished by high yield and technogenicity. The average yield in the region is about 28.8 c/ha, which exceeds the indicators of standard varieties by 2.8 c/ha, and in the Omsk region it reaches 34.7 c/ha, which is 4.0 c/ha higher than the Talovec 55 variety. The maximum registered yield reached 64.4 c/ha in 2001 and 5.98 t/ha in 2004 on experimental plots. The grain output from seeds is 87.6%, which makes the variety attractive for processing and use in the food industry.
In addition, pea DEMONS is characterized by high protein content — on average 23.7%, and in some years up to 25%, which ensures its nutritional value. The taste after boiling is rated at 4.0 points, which indicates good organoleptic quality of the product. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the conditions of the West Siberian region, especially in the Omsk region, and is the result of selection of FGBNU Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center. Its drought resistance is somewhat lower than standards, but high productivity and resistance to adverse conditions make it a profitable choice for agricultural production.
