Shantane Royal

Shantane Royal carrot is a mid-season variety with a growing period of about 100-115 days, distinguished by high stress resistance and adaptation to various climatic conditions. This variety demonstrates excellent seed germination rates, reaching 95-98%, and resistance to major carrot diseases, including foliage diseases and spotting. Thanks to its drought and cold hardiness, Shantane Royal is suitable for cultivation in different soil types provided proper care is given, avoiding planting overcrowding and water stagnation.

Carrot fruits have a shortened-conical or conical shape, ranging from 15 to 20 cm in length and 4-6 cm in diameter, with a small heart-shaped core area. Their weight varies from 150 to 250 grams. The fruits feature a bright orange color, uniform without green shoulders. The carrot is characterized by high carotene content (about 20 mg) and sugar content (7-8%), as well as being rich in vitamins and trace elements. These qualities make the variety ideal for fresh consumption, making salads, purée, juices, and baby food. At the same time, taste and nutritional properties are preserved both during storage and after thermal processing.

For successful cultivation, it is recommended to sow seeds in early spring at a depth of 1.5-2 cm, with a sowing rate of up to 0.5 g per square meter. Seeds can be mixed with dry sand for even distribution during sowing. Plants are planted in rows with a distance between them of 10-15 cm, and when seedlings are overcrowded, thinning is conducted 5-7 days after seedlings appear. Throughout the growing period, it is important to regularly loosen the soil, remove weeds, and water approximately once a week in case of insufficient rainfall. By adhering to these agricultural techniques, a yield of up to 9-10 kg per square meter can be obtained.
