The 'Veselka' sorghum variety is intended for cultivation as both grain and for feeding purposes. Its distinctive feature is its two-colored grain with a red base and cream-colored edge, giving the grain a large and attractive appearance. The grain is round, large, with a 1000-grain weight of 9.0–9.5 grams, and the film content (presence of film) varies around 17–20.5%. The high flour yield reaches 76–82%, making the variety economically advantageous for processing.
'Veselka' belongs to the medium-early maturity group with a vegetative period of 73–98 days, depending on growing conditions. Plant height is 115–130 cm. The variety exhibits high resistance to various stress factors and diseases: resistance to lodging and shattering is rated at 8 points, and resistance to bacterial blight, rust, and sorghum midge is rated at 9 points. This ensures stable yields and reduces losses during storage and transport.
'Veselka' sorghum contains about 14% protein, making it a valuable product for both food use and animal and poultry feeding. The grain is well digested by the human body and is widely used in the food industry for producing flour, malt, and compound feed. Recommended cultivation zones for this variety are the Forest Steppe and Polissia regions, where it shows high yields of 4.5–5.0 tons per hectare.
