Proso of the Yardush variety is a modern high-yielding variety, distinguished by high drought resistance, mechanical damage tolerance, and adaptation to adverse climatic conditions. The plant is medium-early, with a height of 120-140 cm and a vegetation period of 85 to 95 days, though depending on conditions, it may vary from 60 to 120 days. The grain has a yellow-green color, with a 1000-seed mass of 8-10 grams. The yield of this variety reaches 3.0 to 4.5 tons per hectare, making it attractive for cultivation in various regions, including forest-steppe, steppe, and meadow areas. The Yardush variety is well-adapted to different soil types, especially preferring chernozems and sandy loams. It is not overly demanding in terms of fertilizers, yet under adequate moisture and feeding, it can demonstrate high performance. Successful cultivation of proso requires warmth and light; seeds germinate at soil temperatures of +6 to +8°C, and uniform seedlings emerge at +12–15°C. An important aspect of care is weed control and maintaining feeding schedules, which promotes the development of a well-formed root system and increases yield. The Yardush proso grain is widely used in the food industry and animal feed. It is suitable for producing grit, flour, and various porridges due to its good taste qualities and high content of nutritional and energy components. Additionally, this variety is valued for its resistance to diseases and pests, which reduces the risk of crop loss and ensures consistent product quality.
