DescriptionVlada
Vicia varia cv. VLADA is a variable cultivar of Medicago sativa L. nothosubsp. varia, developed at the Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of the South-East. This cultivar is characterized by a semi-erect or slightly spreading bush of medium height with dark green leaves and cylindrical racemes ranging from 1.5 to 3.0 cm in length. The flowers are light-lilac and lilac in color, while the seeds are kidney-shaped, light brown, with an absolute weight of 2.0-2.2 g. The seed material contains 10 to 15% hard seeds. VLADA is distinguished by high seed productivity, exceeding the standard Media cultivar by 46%, as well as resistance to brown leaf spot and mycoplasmosis.
The VLADA cultivar demonstrates stable forage mass yield, which matches or slightly exceeds the level of standard cultivars. Due to high seed productivity and disease resistance, this cultivar is successfully grown in all lucerne growing zones. The economic efficiency of using the cultivar is due to the possibility of obtaining additional income per hectare due to high seed output.
Lucerne is a complete feed, rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, proteins, and amino acids necessary for the health of domestic animals. Moreover, it serves as an excellent cover crop, enriching the soil with nitrogen and increasing its fertility. The VLADA cultivar combines high forage value and agronomic advantages, making it a sought-after choice for agricultural production.
