DescriptionTalisman
Talisman is a variety of blue alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. subsp. sativa), distinguished by its medium-early maturity period and high adaptability to moderate and cold climates. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect or erect bush and leaves of medium length and width. The flowers are blue-purple, characteristic of the variety, and are slightly damaged by seed-eating pests. The vegetative period is 90-95 days; 2-3 cuts per season are possible, ensuring a stable and high yield of green mass. The average dry matter yield reaches 53 c/ha, with a maximum exceeding 106 c/ha, surpassing the indicators of standard varieties. The protein content in dry matter is about 11.8%, making this variety valuable for animal feeding.
Talisman alfalfa possesses a powerful root system that allows the plant to effectively absorb moisture from deep soil layers, ensuring its drought and temperature fluctuation resistance. Thanks to this, the variety withstands both heat and cold well, making it universal for various climatic conditions. Rapid spring development and good regrowth ability after cutting contribute to high productivity and a long period of use for fodder purposes.
Sowing of Talisman alfalfa is recommended in early spring. During the vegetative period, the plant can be used for cattle grazing and for regular cutting in the autumn-winter period. The high proportion of leafy mass and the optimal ratio of protein and fiber in the composition make this variety especially valuable for animal husbandry, providing high-quality and nutritious fodder raw materials.
