Alfalfa Capri

The French Standard: Maximizing Forage Yields with 'Capri'

The 'Capri' alfalfa variety, developed by Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils, represents a strategic choice for agricultural enterprises focused on sustainable and high-protein forage production. With a plant height of 60–90 cm, this variety is engineered for maximum biomass accumulation while maintaining the structural integrity required for efficient mechanical harvesting.

Field Application and Operational Efficiency

Agronomists incorporate 'Capri' into their rotations to build a robust forage chain. Its selection by the French experts at Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils focuses on vigor, allowing for quick regrowth cycles between cuttings. In intensive management systems, this enables growers to maximize the number of harvests per season without sacrificing plant longevity.

• High-Quality Forage: 'Capri' is highly valued by dairy producers who require consistent protein levels in their silage and hay to optimize animal health and production costs.
• Soil Health Benefits: Beyond its feed value, this variety acts as a natural soil conditioner, improving soil structure through its extensive root system and contributing to nitrogen fixation.
• Machine Compatibility: The optimized growth height makes it ideal for modern forage machinery, ensuring high-speed operation with minimal harvest loss.

For those looking to secure long-term productivity, the 'Capri' variety offers a reliable return on investment. By maintaining a uniform stand throughout the productive years, it reduces the need for frequent reseeding. Whether used for haylage or direct grazing, 'Capri' consistently delivers the performance expected of premium European genetics.
