Description
DAR DALGAU – a new Far Eastern blueberry honeysuckle variety obtained from wild regional forms. The bushes of this plant are dwarf and dense, with upright shoots, small oval green leaves. High winter hardiness makes it suitable for cultivation in harsh climatic conditions.
The berries are of medium size (average weight 0.9 g, maximum 1.1 g), have an elongated-oval shape, violet-blue coloration, and a rounded base. The skin is of medium thickness, with a semi-covered calyx and no bract. The taste is sour-sweet with a characteristic aroma. When ripe, the berries do not fall off, which facilitates harvest collection.
The variety is self-incompatible and has good rooting of green cuttings. Yields reach 1.9 kg per bush, and the ripening period is medium, early compared to many other varieties. Berries contain high levels of vitamin C (74 mg/100 g), carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, and folic acid, as well as a complex of biologically active substances ranging from 500 to 2500 mg/100 g. Heat resistance and drought tolerance are moderate, but it is resistant to diseases and pests. The variety is suitable for both fresh consumption and all types of processing.
