Honeysuckle Vasilek

Siberian Resilience for Your Orchard

The 'Vasilek' honeysuckle variety is a testament to the rigorous breeding standards maintained by the Ural Federal Agrarian Research Center. Specifically engineered for demanding climates, this variety exhibits extraordinary cold tolerance, capable of surviving temperatures as low as -40°C. This makes it a premier choice for growers located in northern latitudes and regions prone to volatile weather patterns.

Morphology and Market Utility

Vasilek stands out due to its manageable architecture; the shrubs typically reach a height of 1.5 to 2.0 meters, facilitating efficient maintenance and mechanical or manual harvesting. The berries, weighing between 1.2 and 2.0 grams, offer a distinctive sweet-and-sour flavor profile with a subtle bitterness characteristic of high-quality Siberian honeysuckle.

• Market Versatility: The variety serves two primary sectors: the fresh market, where its firm skin ensures good shelf life and transportability, and the processing industry, where its flavor intensity is highly valued.
• Agronomic Performance: With consistent yields and low maintenance requirements, Vasilek is widely adopted by both small-scale enthusiasts and commercial growers focusing on sustainable, hardy fruit production.

By integrating Vasilek into an orchard plan, producers gain a predictable asset. The shrub requires no complex winter protection and adapts quickly to erratic spring temperature shifts, ensuring reliable harvest cycles even in short-summer growing zones.
