Lettuce Marina

Stable Yield in Temperate Climate Conditions

The 'Marina' lettuce variety by the Polish breeding company KHNO «Polan» is a professional choice for farmers focused on the conveyor production of high-quality leafy vegetables. Its mid-season maturity allows for better market supply planning, avoiding oversupply during peak periods and ensuring consistent income throughout the season.

Practical Cultivation Insights

• Resistance as the Foundation of Profitability: A key feature of 'Marina' is its pronounced resistance to lettuce downy mildew (Bremia lactucae). This is a critical factor for farms operating in high-humidity regions or facing significant field disease pressure. Using this variety significantly reduces the need for fungicide applications, which not only saves costs but also ensures produce with minimal pesticide residues.
• Productive Rosette Formation: The variety forms a large, dense, green rosette. This plant architecture is well-suited for mechanical harvesting, effectively reducing manual labor costs. The large mass of the head makes it an ideal option for both the fresh market and the HoReCa segment, where high marketable yield per square meter is essential.

Agronomists choose 'Marina' for its predictability. The variety adapts well to soil and climatic conditions common in European regions, showing excellent plasticity. It is not prone to premature bolting during minor temperature fluctuations, providing the agronomist with a 'buffer time' for harvesting operations without sacrificing commercial quality.
