Lettuce VALDIVIA

The Dutch Standard for Leaf Lettuce

Valdivia lettuce from Rijk Zwaan breeders is a testament to the consistency expected from professional seeds originating in the Netherlands. This variety has firmly established itself in the mid-season leaf lettuce segment, offering farmers predictable results regardless of seasonal challenges. Valdivia represents the classic leaf lettuce type, forming a neat, substantial rosette with a vibrant green color.

Agronomic Advantages

The key feature of this hybrid is its high adaptability and robust immune system. For professional producers, defense against pathogens is a critical factor in profitability. Valdivia exhibits strong resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae), which minimizes the need for fungicide treatments and allows for the production of eco-friendly, high-demand fresh produce.

This variety is tailored for both open-field and greenhouse cultivation. It is preferred by large agricultural holdings and small-scale farms alike, particularly those supplying fresh greens to supermarkets. Thanks to its high marketability, Valdivia is consistently in demand by processors for salad mixes and by end consumers who value freshness and aesthetic appeal.
