Lettuce Maritime

Stable yields even under stress

When working with the Maritima variety from Enza Limited, a farmer primarily values predictability. This Iceberg type is a real discovery for those tired of constant battles against leaf diseases. In the field, it behaves consistently: the heads are formed evenly and tightly, with a characteristic light green color highly valued in retail chains for its fresh appearance.

Agronomic resistance as an economic foundation

The biggest headache in growing lettuce is infections capable of destroying a plantation in a week. Maritima mitigates these risks effectively:

• Full control over Verticillium and Fusarium wilt.
• Immunity to Cladosporium.
• High tolerance to Tomato Mosaic Virus.

Particular attention should be paid to its resistance to tip burn (marginal necrosis). During temperature fluctuations, when other hybrids start showing burnt edges, Maritima keeps the leaf clean. This eliminates additional costs for sorting and discarding, which directly impacts the production cost.

Operational performance

The plant has strong potential, easily adapts to open-field conditions, and does not require specific agronomic techniques beyond standard practice. With proper irrigation and crop rotation, you get a high yield of marketable produce without any 'surprises.' This is a case where professional breeding by Enza Limited truly simplifies field work, allowing you to focus on logistics and sales rather than saving the crop from rot and viruses.
