Zimlyansky Chornyi — this is a red technical grape variety traditionally cultivated in the Don region. It belongs to the eco-geographical group of grape varieties of the Black Sea basin and was included in the State Register of Selection Achievements since 1959. The clusters of this variety are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical in shape, with one beak, medium density. The berries have a dark blue color, round or slightly oval shape, covered with a dense waxy coating, and their flesh has a specific sharp taste. The grape ripens at the end of August — beginning of September, the productive period lasts about 130-135 days. The vines are characterized by medium growth vigor and good lignification of shoots, yield reaching 40-60 centners per hectare.
This grape variety is widely used for producing high-quality still and sparkling wines, including rosé wines with an exquisite and unusual aromatic spectrum. Due to its early ripening, Zimlyansky Chornyi is suitable for winemaking aimed at obtaining high-quality wines. Wines from this variety are characterized by a rich bouquet and harmonious taste, making them popular among connoisseurs.
Despite its merits, Zimlyansky Chornyi requires careful care and protection, as it is susceptible to fungal diseases, especially mildew. For successful cultivation, a full set of protective measures and winter protection of vines are necessary. It is worth noting that the variety has moderate frost resistance, allowing it to be grown under moderate climate conditions.
