Wedding

Grape "Wedding" — this is a Ukrainian autumn red-fleshed pear variety, created by breeders of the Melitopol Fruit Growing Station through crossing varieties "Victoria" and "Red Flesh". The tree has a round, moderately dense crown, with medium or strong growth vigor, depending on growing conditions. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, resistance to scab, and good drought tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, particularly in the steppe zone. Fruit production begins early — as early as the 2nd or 3rd year after planting, fruits form on spurs and one-year shoots.

The fruits of the "Wedding" variety have medium to large size, weighing between 170 to 250 grams. They are pear-shaped, with a dense, shiny skin of pale-yellow color, covered with a deep raspberry or burgundy-red blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is tender, oily, juicy, aromatic, with a rich pink color and red veins. The taste is sweet-sour or sweet with a slight acidity, with a sugar content of 13–15 degrees on the Brix scale.

Fruit ripening occurs at the end of August to the beginning of September, depending on climatic conditions. The eating ripe stage is reached within a week after harvest. For long-term storage (3–4 months in a refrigerator with controlled temperature), it is important to harvest the fruits before full ripeness, otherwise they will quickly spoil. The "Wedding" pear is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and drying. Its high transportability makes this variety attractive for commercial cultivation.
