IS 2-10

IS 2-10 — this is a low-growing apple rootstock developed at the Ukrainian Institute of Horticulture and recommended for growing pear trees in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia regions. This rootstock is characterized by enhanced winter hardiness of the root system, ensuring the reliability and resilience of trees in cold climates. Thanks to the use of apple rootstocks such as IS 2-10, the crown volume is significantly reduced, which facilitates tree care and increases productivity.

Two-year-old pear saplings on the IS 2-10 rootstock are available for purchase through an online store with delivery across Ukraine. The rootstock has undergone thorough testing in nurseries, seedling fields, and gardens, confirming its quality and adaptability to local conditions. One of the recommended varieties for cultivation on the IS 2-10 rootstock is the winter variety 'Yablunovska'. This medium-sized tree has a pyramidal crown and produces pear-shaped fruits of greenish-yellow color with a blush on the sun-exposed side. Fruit weight ranges from 180–300 grams, with creamy-white, dense, oily, tender, and sweet flesh with a spicy aroma, giving the fruit a dessert-like flavor rated 4.5–4.8 points. The variety is characterized by high yield, enhanced winter hardiness, and resistance to scab. Fruits store well until January and can be kept in a refrigerator until March.
