Description Bere Bosk
Bere Bosk pear — one of the most popular and high-yielding autumn-ripening varieties, developed in France at the end of the 18th century. The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of about 3.5 meters, with a compact pyramidal crown that becomes more spreading and broad-pyramidal in mature specimens. Leaves are small and glossy. Fruit production begins in the third year after planting, allowing for a relatively quick harvest.

The fruits of Bere Bosk pear are large, weighing from 150 to 220 grams, with an elongated-pear or classic pear shape, occasionally appearing bottle-shaped. The skin is thin and yellowish-brown. The flesh is white or cream-colored, with a waxy texture, very tender, juicy, and melting in the mouth. The flavor is sweet, fragrant, with a distinctive almond taste, making this variety especially appealing to consumers. Fruits ripen in early to mid-September and are immediately ready for consumption. Fruit storage life is moderate — about 20-30 days, and they are well-suited for transportation and remain firmly attached to the tree, even at full ripeness. Fruits set in pairs and triplets, ripening asynchronously.

The Bere Bosk variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, exceeding average levels, and resistance to major diseases, particularly being weakly affected by scab. The tree is not demanding in soil requirements, growing well and fruiting abundantly on light soils with adequate irrigation. Due to its qualities and adaptability, this variety is widely cultivated and successfully grown in various regions, including Ukraine.
