Grape MARSAN

Cultivating Marsan: Field Insights

Growing the 'Marsan' variety in northern regions is a commitment for the dedicated viticulturist. It demands strict adherence to agrotechnical protocols and regular attention to the canopy and soil health.

Technical Performance and Maintenance

Marsan is a mid-season technical grape. The yield is moderate, with clusters typically ranging from 300 to 500 grams. From an operational standpoint, its standout feature is the berry's resistance to cracking. This is a game-changer during wet harvests, as the amber berries maintain their structural integrity, ensuring the crop reaches the press in pristine condition, free from rot development.

Winemaking Utility

Because Marsan is exclusively for winemaking, your focus must be on acidity management and sugar levels. The variety requires specific pruning techniques to balance its vigor. If you are prepared to invest the time in specialized care—including rigorous disease prevention and canopy management—you will be rewarded with a stable, high-quality yield suitable for premium wine production. The effort spent on manual maintenance is clearly reflected in the final wine quality.
