SYK DANAY

Syk Danay is an autochthonous Crimean grape variety belonging to the eco-geographical group of the Black Sea basin. This variety ripens in mid-September and is characterized by a medium-sized leaf with an oval, five-lobed shape and dense cobwebby hairs on the underside. Leaves have a wavy blade with a netted-crenated upper surface. Flowers are hermaphroditic, which ensures good and stable pollination. Bunches are of medium size, cylindro-conical, and very dense, while berries are yellowish-green, medium-sized, oval or slightly oval in shape with a waxy bloom. The pulp is juicy, spreading, with a simple, coarse, and astringent taste. The skin is thick, rough, and astringent, separating poorly from the pulp. Bushes have medium vigor, and the yield of the variety is low. Shoot ripening is good, and resistance to fungal diseases is average. The juice sugar content of the berries is 15-17 g/100 cm³, and acidity is 3.5-4 g/dm³. Syk Danay is used primarily in mixtures with other varieties for the production of table wines. Variety features include moderate disease resistance and average yield, which requires careful care. Despite the low fruitfulness of lower buds with short pruning, with long pruning to 12-15 or more buds, the best bunches can be obtained. Berries have thick skin, which sometimes leads to cracking after rains. The grape taste is characterized by a harmonious combination of sugar content and acidity, which makes it attractive for winemaking and table consumption.
