Fescue Stella

Ural breeding for reliable lawns and pastures

The 'Stella' red fescue variety is a product of fundamental breeding by the Ural Federal Agrarian Scientific Research Center (UrFANITS UrO RAN). Developed to thrive in demanding climatic conditions, this variety has established itself in the perennial grass segment, demonstrating exceptional endurance and vegetative stability.

Agrotechnical features and applications

The primary value of 'Stella' lies in its versatility. Unlike highly specialized lawn grasses, this variety successfully fulfills two distinct roles:

• Ornamental landscaping: due to the deep dark green color of its blades, the turf maintains an aesthetic appearance and rich hue throughout the entire season.
• Forage production: high adaptability allows the variety to be used for establishing perennial cultivated pastures and hayfields with good nutritional value.

The efforts of the originators, including Irina Pavlovna Salnikova, were focused on creating a resilient plant material that requires minimal maintenance under unstable weather conditions. The red fescue of this variety features a well-developed root system, which promotes rapid sodding and soil erosion protection.

Market position

In the current agricultural landscape, the selections from UrFANITS occupy a strategic niche. 'Stella' represents a generation of varieties adapted to high-risk farming zones, making it a predictable and economically efficient choice for municipal needs, park landscaping, and increasing the productivity of agricultural lands.
