Owensgrass «Stavropol» – a perennial decorative grass with a height of 20 to 25 cm, distinguished by dense thin leaves with a shiny silver-green tint. Thanks to its compact growth and resistance to various climatic conditions, it is widely used in landscape design: as a separate bush, in groups with hostas, geraniums, or in borders and edgings.
For successful cultivation of Owensgrass «Stavropol», sunny or brightly lit places are required, but the plant also grows well in partial shade. Well-drained sandy, peat, and even slightly moist soils are suitable; it is important to ensure good drainage and moderate fertilization (organic or synthetic). When planting in containers, 2-liter containers with drainage and nutrient mixture are recommended. After planting, the plant should be watered, and then soil moisture maintained, especially during drought periods.
Care for Owensgrass includes regular pruning after flowering and shaping pruning in summer to maintain the compact appearance of bushes. The plant is frost-hardy up to –34 °C and does not show aggressive properties towards neighboring plants, but with excessive soil moisture, root rot or powdery mildew may occur. With proper care, Owensgrass «Stavropol» will last 3–5 years and become a reliable element of decorative greening.
