Festuca 'Eastern' – a perennial shrub growing 30 to 40 cm tall with a crown width up to 60–80 cm, forming dense mats of narrow leaves in silver-blue or blue shades. The leaves have a fine texture, creating an elegant decorative effect in the garden. In late spring – early summer, the plant opens light-green panicles with a purple tint, adding brightness and vitality to the composition.
The root system of Festuca is strong and branched, providing soil stability and preventing erosion. The plant grows well on light, drained soils, but is also adapted to heavier surfaces thanks to its deep root network. Festuca withstands a wide range of climatic conditions: from cold to sub-tropical regions, as well as mountain tropical zones. It withstands drought well – in the absence of water, part of the stems may die, but the roots remain alive and capable of rapid recovery.
In landscape design, Festuca is used as decorative greenery, a groundcover plant, as well as in borders, paths, alpine gardens, and rock gardens. Thanks to its compact shape and low maintenance requirements, it is suitable for both private gardens and commercial landscape projects. Regular watering, moderate pruning after flowering, and mulching help maintain a dense cover and preserve the decorative appearance throughout the vegetative period from March to September.
