ADIO – a species of red fescue (Festuca rubra L.) with code 8755956, intended for cultivation in moderate climatic conditions. The crop belongs to the group of hexaploid varieties and is distinguished by the anthocyanin coloring of the leaf sheath in summer, which gives the plants a characteristic reddish tint. Leaves are narrow, green, without whitish bloom, and the flag leaf is short, medium length and width with a wide stem. The variety does not contain awns and lacks pubescence on the lower floral scale, which makes it convenient for lawn conditions.
ADIO seeds are characterized by large grains, a dense shell, and a high protein content of up to 12%. Under normal agrotechnical regimes, plants yield an average harvest weight of about 300–350 kg/ha, and with optimal fertilization (NPK 10‑20‑10) and regular watering – 350–400 kg/ha. Seed germination occurs within 7–10 days after sowing at soil temperatures from +5 to +15 °C, ensuring rapid rooting.
The variety is resistant to major oat diseases, such as powdery leaf spot (Fusarium), root rot, and fungal leaf infections. It is recommended to sow between January 15 and 30 at soil moisture of 60 to 70%. ADIO is suitable for grain production and can also be used as a forage crop due to its high protein content and good germination.
