Haydrun is a winter wheatgrass variety obtained through the breeding of domestic and foreign research centers. It is characterized by high yields of 6–7 tons/hectare under optimal conditions and a protein content of 13–14%, making it attractive for bread production, large-scale products, and high-protein flour.
The variety has good dough quality: high elasticity and excellent baking stability. It is resistant to various diseases – rots, wheat mites, leaf spots (powdery mildew) and some strains of stripey rust. Thermotolerance allows it to withstand cold and moderately dry conditions well, but requires sufficient moisture during the growth period.
As a component for grass mixtures and lawns, Heydrun demonstrates rapid rooting, high leaf density and wear resistance. The variety is resistant to trampling, has good salt tolerance and can withstand high concentrations of salt in soils, which makes it suitable for seeding sports grounds, lawn repair and use in grass mixtures.
