Festuca rubra trichophylla 'Helena' is a cultivar of red fescue grown in Denmark for creating decorative lawns, as well as covering sports fields and play areas. The seeds have a high density of shoots, ensuring quick rooting and a dense cover. Due to its tolerance to low mowing, drought, salinity, and shade, 'Helena' is suitable for both open park areas and shaded areas along roads.
When sown on lawns, plant density reaches 3–4 kg of seeds per 100 m² (30‑40 g/m²), allowing for the quick formation of a smooth and durable cover. The variety combines well with other types of fescue but can be used on its own, ensuring uniformity of color and texture. The seeds meet the requirements of GOST R52325‑2005, and the packaging is typically 20 kg.
The advantages of 'Helena' include high tolerance to low mowing, drought and salt resistance, as well as excellent shade tolerance. These properties make it an ideal choice for park areas, urban territories, sports fields, and decorative lawns where a durable and aesthetically pleasing cover is required.
