HSL 4011 is a mid-late maturity simple interline maize hybrid with FAO maturity group 400, developed by breeders of the MAIS company. The hybrid is intended for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia. It is suitable for use as grain, silage, and feed, making it a versatile solution for agro-industrial production. The vegetation period lasts from 120 to 126 days depending on the growing region.
Plants of the hybrid reach an average height of about 260 cm, with ears set at approximately 110 cm. The ears contain 14 to 18 rows of yellow dent kernels. The hybrid is characterized by good germination, high uniformity, and moderate growth energy in early development stages. It is resistant to lodging at all stages, and also has moderate water loss rate during maturation, which contributes to high-quality harvest.
HSL 4011 exhibits high resistance to adverse weather conditions, including spring temperature drops and summer heat, and is also relatively insensitive to drought and water deficiency. The hybrid shows high tolerance to major maize diseases such as helminthosporium, powdery mildew, and blister rust, and is resistant to pests, including corn borer. It responds well to various agronomic practices and is adapted to resource-saving cultivation technologies. Grain yield varies from 104.9 to 161.9 c/ha, and silage yield ranges from 380 to 910 c/ha, confirming its high productivity under different growing conditions.
