DM Tandem

DM Tandem is a simple hybrid of mid-maturity sweet corn with a FAO index of 320, developed by the breeding company MAIS. It is intended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia zones, where the vegetation period ranges from 107 to 119 days depending on the region. The hybrid is adapted to intensive cultivation technologies and is recommended for sowing at soil temperatures of 10–12ºC. Potential yield ranges from 118 to 152 centners per hectare, making it a profitable choice for grain-oriented agro-industrial use.

DM Tandem plants reach an average height of about 270 cm, with ear attachment height approximately 120 cm. The ear has a cylindrical shape with 14–16 rows of dent kernels. The hybrid is characterized by relatively low initial growth energy and moderate Stay Green effect, which ensures rapid moisture release at the final ripening stage. This allows significantly reduced drying costs and improved overall profitability of cultivation.

DM Tandem exhibits high tolerance to major corn diseases, such as downy mildew, gray leaf spot, and helminthosporiosis, as well as low susceptibility to corn borer infestation. The hybrid is not prone to lodging and effectively withstands drought and other adverse conditions. Recommended pre-harvest plant density varies depending on the cultivation zone: from 45–50 thousand/ha in steppe regions to 75–80 thousand/ha in Polissia, promoting optimal plant development and maximum yield.
