The “DM Reglament” corn hybrid, developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS, is the result of focused selection aimed at stability in the continental climate of Ukraine. As a simple hybrid, it offers excellent crop uniformity, which is critical for efficient mechanical harvesting and consistent yield performance.

Morphology and Maturity

With a maturity cycle of 110-120 days, the hybrid effectively utilizes the growing season in regions with moderate heat units. The dent-type grain structure indicates an optimal ratio of endosperm to germ, ensuring high-quality yield and efficient moisture dry-down at harvest time. The FAO rating (90-1240) confirms the hybrid's versatility and resilience to seasonal weather fluctuations.

Phytosanitary Resistance

The technical advantage of "DM Reglament" lies in its integrated resistance to key pathogens and pests prevalent in modern farming:

• Common Smut (Ustilago maydis): Strong genetic resistance significantly reduces losses in cob yield and grain quality.
• European Corn Borer: The structural density of the stalks creates a physical barrier against borer infestation, ensuring the integrity of the plant's vascular system.

These traits reduce the need for intensive chemical interventions, enhancing the economic viability of the crop.

Seeding Density Recommendations

The hybrid demonstrates high plasticity regarding plant density. Depending on the soil fertility and irrigation availability, the seeding rate ranges from 45,000 to 80,000 plants per hectare. Lower densities (45,000–60,000 plants/ha) are recommended for water-stressed regions to mitigate moisture competition. Higher densities (65,000–80,000 plants/ha) are optimal for high-input systems or irrigated fields to maximize the total yield potential.
