DMC Lord

The hybrid sweet corn DMC Lord (FAO 190) is an early-maturing crop recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone and the Polissia region of Ukraine. This hybrid is distinguished by its high adaptability to various soil-climatic conditions, allowing successful cultivation from southern steppe regions to northern areas for grain and silage production. The vegetation period ranges from 90 to 105 days, and plant height varies from 190 to 240 cm depending on growing conditions. The ear has a cylindrical or conical-cylindrical shape, forms at a height of 75-100 cm, and contains 14-18 rows of yellow, chitinous-kernel type seeds. The hybrid has a medium tendency to form two ears.

DMC Lord is characterized by high resistance to adverse factors: cold tolerance is rated at 9 points on a 9-point scale, drought and lodging resistance are also at a high level. The hybrid demonstrates good resistance to leaf blight and corn borer. Due to rapid grain moisture reduction, even with late sowing, the grain remains dry, facilitating harvesting and subsequent processing. This feature makes the hybrid an excellent predecessor for winter crops, especially wheat.

Cultivation recommendations include sowing at a depth of 5-7 cm with optimal density of 70-80 thousand plants per hectare in the forest-steppe zone and 80-90 thousand in the Polissia region. The hybrid is suitable for both early and late sowing, maintaining stable yields of up to 13.8 t/ha in Polissia and up to 8.5 t/ha in steppe conditions. DMC Lord can be grown using conventional and resource-saving methods, making it a versatile and profitable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality yields of grain and silage.
