Corn Hybrid MS 290

Corn Hybrid MS 290 is a simple modified mid-early maturity hybrid with FAO 290, developed for grain and silage production. Plants reach a height of about 220 cm, with ears attached at a height of 90 to 110 cm. The ear has a cylindrical or conical shape, containing 12 to 16 rows of yellow, dent-type kernels. The thousand-kernel weight varies from 220 to 280 grams, and grain yield is 82-85%. The hybrid is characterized by high grain drying intensity after physiological maturity, reducing drying costs.

Hybrid MS 290 is well adapted to diverse soil-climatic conditions, especially the Northern Steppe of Ukraine. It exhibits high drought, cold tolerance, and resistance to major diseases such as frogeye leaf spot and gray leaf spot, as well as to the corn borer. Resistance to lodging during physiological maturity and up to 30 days after it is high, ensuring yield stability.

The hybrid is versatile in use, suitable for both grain production with a potential yield of up to 14 t/ha and silage production. Leaves are semi-erect, and the stem is weakly colored in anthocyanin. Hybrid MS 290 shows moderate ability to form two ears, further expanding the possibilities for agronomists to optimize yield.
