UZUNOVSKIE

Uzunovskie beans are a semi-determinate variety developed by the V. R. Williams State Institute of Forage Crops and included in the State Register. The plant is of medium height with a moderate number of nodes on the stem and has weak anthocyanin pigmentation. The flowers are long, the raceme has an average number of flowers, and the wing is covered with a melanin spot. The keel is slightly anthocyanin.

Beans of the variety have a semi-vertical shape of medium length and a green color. The seeds are elliptical, beige with a black hilum, and lack curvature or have very weak curvature. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 378 to 395 grams, grain yield is 25-30 tons/ha, which is 1.5 tons/ha above the standard. Dry matter reaches 68.6 centners/ha and is at the norm level. The vegetative period from germination to grain harvest is 106-118 days, and for fodder mass it is 61-74 days.

The variety is resistant to chocolate spot (weakly affected) and has medium resistance to black spot. It is suitable for cultivation in all regions where grain-fodder bean varieties are used. Forage beans in general possess protein of medium quality; however, the content of methionine and threonine in the grain is low. They are widely used as animal feed, and green mass is preferred in mixtures with other crops. Uzunovskie beans grow on powerful, heavy soils and require a sufficient amount of moisture.
