Alkmene apple — a German autumn-ripening variety, developed by crossing Geheimrat Dr. Oldenburg and Cox’s Orange Pippin. Medium-sized tree with thick branches and moderate branching. Fruits are oval-shaped, colored in yellow-red or orange-red tones with a yellow background. Medium-sized apples weighing 110 to 150 grams, with creamy-white flesh that ranges from firm to very firm. The flavor is tart-sweet, with a distinctive Cox aroma, making them ideal for fresh consumption and apple puree.

The variety is characterized by high cold and drought resistance, as well as tolerance to many diseases, ensuring stable yields even in regions with harsh winters. The apple tree begins fruiting two to three years after planting, reaching full strength by the tenth year. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to plant in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil, regularly fertilize, and maintain moderate moisture. Pruning branches is performed in late autumn to shape the canopy and improve fruiting.

Fruits of Alkmene apple have good transportability and can be stored for several weeks after harvest, which occurs from late August to late September.
