Sugar beet MS FD 0704

French Breeding for High Sugar Yield

The sugar beet variety/hybrid MS FD 0704 is the result of years of research by the French breeding company Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils, focused on maximizing sugar yield per hectare. This hybrid represents a classic high-sugar type (Z), making it an optimal choice for growers aiming to supply raw materials with top polarization figures.

Agronomic Features and Crop Protection

In modern intensive farming, success depends not only on yield potential but also on disease resilience. MS FD 0704 distinguishes itself through comprehensive resistance: the hybrid demonstrates excellent field tolerance to cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew, as well as resistance to various rots. This enables agronomists to optimize fungicide programs, directly improving production cost-efficiency.

Root Morphology

Visually, MS FD 0704 is easily recognizable in the field by its cylindrical-conical root shape. The medium size of the roots ensures ease during mechanized harvesting, minimizing field losses during the passage of beet harvesters. The hybrid’s structure allows the beets to be lifted from the soil easily while maintaining integrity, which is crucial for preventing the development of secondary rots during storage in clamps.

Choosing Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils means opting for the reliability of European genetics. MS FD 0704 holds its niche as a balanced tool for obtaining high-quality raw materials, combining the sugar processors' classic requirements with modern grower demands for a robust plant immune status.
