Description SR769
Sugar beet of the SR769 variety is a medium-maturing crop with a vegetation period of 115-120 days from emergence. This variety is characterized by high yield potential and sugar content, making it popular for both fresh market and storage. The root has a cylindrical-conical shape, deeply embedded in the soil (about 85%), with an average weight of around 700 grams. The root surface is relatively smooth, facilitating harvest and reducing soil adhesion. The leaf rosette is semi-erect, with medium-sized leaf blades that are dark green and moderately corrugated.

Sugar beet SR769 exhibits high resistance to adverse conditions. It tolerates drought well due to its well-developed taproot system, penetrating to a depth of 2-2.5 meters, enabling efficient use of moisture from deeper soil layers. Additionally, the variety is cold-tolerant, capable of withstanding frosts down to -5°C without damaging sugar accumulation. The plant also demonstrates resistance to diseases such as cercospora, powdery mildew, and root rot, contributing to stable yields.

The optimal temperature for growth and development of sugar beet is 20-22°C, although photosynthesis continues even at temperatures above 40°C. Seeds germinate within a wide temperature range from +4 to +17°C, with emergence time depending on soil temperature and varying by 10-15 days. The highest water requirement occurs during July-August, the period of intensive root growth. Water deficiency during this period may lead to increased nitrogen content in the roots. Due to its characteristics, the SR769 variety is versatile in application: used in culinary practices for making borscht and kvass, as a forage crop, and for technical purposes in sugar and molasses production.
