Iberian vetch (Vicia iberica) belongs to the Fabaceae family and serves as a valuable forage crop. The optimal sowing time is in early spring, as soon as the soil warms up to 5–7 degrees Celsius, which allows for the most efficient use of accumulated winter moisture.

When used as a winter crop component, sowing is carried out in late summer or early autumn, 40–50 days before the onset of persistent frost. This ensures sufficient tillering and root system development before the plant enters dormancy.
