Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety — submedicum. Plants of medium height (68 — 78 cm). Strong anthocyanic coloration of leaf tips, long, serrated only in upper part. Two-row ear, with moderate waxy coating, cylindrical, loose (11.6 nodes per 4 cm), medium length. Sterile spikelet occupies position from parallel to slightly deviated. Flower scales finely wrinkled, with weakly expressed venation, gradually transitioning into awn. Grain is elliptical, yellow, membranous. Main awn is long-haired. 1000-grain weight 48 — 50 g.
Biological characteristics. Ripening group — mid-late, vegetation period duration 88 — 92 days. Resistant to lodging (8.3 — 8.5 points), moderately resistant to drought (6.3 — 7.2 points). The variety is a source of group resistance to infection by powdery and downy mildew pathogens (8 — 9 points).
Agronomic characteristics. Semi-intensive type. Recommended sowing rate 4.0 — 4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare. Standard agronomic practices for the cultivation zone, early sowing dates.
Under production conditions, the variety’s yield reached 5.33 t/ha (Kupiansk DSCS, Kharkiv Oblast), 5.70 t/ha (Volchansk DSCS, Kharkiv Oblast), and 7.31 t/ha ("Agrofirm Dzhulinka", Vinnytsia Oblast). Potential yield 8.5 — 9.5 t/ha. Grain has good brewing qualities: extract content — 80.0%, protein content 10.8 — 11.2%, starch content 61.0 — 61.5%, malting quality 98.0%. Percentage of conditioned seeds 75 — 85%.
