Tsarivna

Tsarivna — a winter soft wheat variety, recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polissia regions of Ukraine. Developed at the Bilotserkivska Research and Selection Station of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beets of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, this variety has been registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2008. It belongs to the erythrospermum (ostist) type and is characterized by a medium-early maturity group and a strong quality group.

The Tsarivna variety has a high yield potential — up to 10.7 t/ha (70-85 c/ha), plant height of 94-104 cm, and 1000-grain weight of 45-50 grams. It exhibits enhanced winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and ecological plasticity, allowing it to be grown after any preceding crops, except cereal grasses. The variety also shows high resistance to major diseases such as brown rust, septoria, powdery mildew, fusarium head blight, and root rots.

The baking qualities of the Tsarivna variety are high: protein content is 14.0-14.2%, raw gluten content — 30.1-31.0%, dough strength (W) — 342-375 units, and bread volume reaches 1100-1180 ml. These characteristics make it attractive for producing high-quality bread and other bakery products.
