Senator by Strube: A Benchmark in Wheat Resilience

In high-intensity farming, the choice of seed variety is a strategic decision that balances yield potential with environmental risk management. The "Senator" winter wheat variety, developed by the German breeding company Strube, is engineered to provide stability in high-pressure agricultural environments. Its primary value proposition lies in superior genetic resistance, which minimizes the reliance on intensive fungicide applications.

Comprehensive Protection Against Major Pathogens

What sets Senator apart in the field is its robust phytosanitary profile. It provides a reliable shield against the most damaging grain pathogens, ensuring the plant remains healthy throughout its development cycle:

• Cercosporella foot rot;
• Yellow rust;
• Brown rust;
• Septoria;
• Fusarium head blight;
• Powdery mildew.

The resistance to Fusarium head blight is particularly significant, as it protects grain quality and prevents the accumulation of mycotoxins, which is essential for high-grade harvesting. This makes Senator a go-to choice for operations that prioritize crop safety and consistent marketability.

Performance and Standability

Senator is built for intensity. Its strong, resilient straw allows for optimal nitrogen application, ensuring that the plant can support a heavy head without the risk of lodging—even under unfavorable weather conditions or high wind exposure. This ability to maintain structural integrity throughout the grain-filling stage turns the genetic yield potential into real-world tonnage.

Who is this variety for? Senator is an ideal fit for professional growers looking to optimize operational costs. By leveraging the variety's inherent resistance, farmers can reduce the number of chemical passes while maintaining confidence in the final yield. It is a predictable, high-performance solution for farms that demand both quality and reliability.
