Genetic potential and adaptation of "Scythia" winter wheat

Winter wheat "Scythia" from the breeding house Deutsche Saatveredelung is the result of advanced work by geneticists led by Dieter Stelling. The core focus of this variety is its intensive development type, which allows for the efficient use of short spring windows to form a high-performance ear. From a technical perspective, the variety exhibits a balanced distribution of nutrients between the stem and the grain.

Key characteristics and field performance

• Yield potential: 8–9 tons per hectare, positioning this variety as an intensive crop that thrives with proper agrotechnical support.
• Winter hardiness: Rated 7 out of 9, which indicates robust adaptation to temperature fluctuations in temperate climates.
• Lodging resistance: High straw strength parameters allow the crop to maintain a vertical posture even under heavy rainfall or when using higher nitrogen fertilizer rates.
• Vegetation period: 80–90 days during active growth, critical for harvest planning and minimizing the risks of crop overripening.

Deutsche Saatveredelung is renowned for its rigorous quality control of breeding materials. "Scythia" combines high stress tolerance with predictable field performance, making it a rational choice for farmers aiming to maximize profitability per hectare.
