Wheat SU Banatus

German Breeding for High Intensity

The winter wheat SU Banatus from Strube represents the result of many years of selective breeding by German experts, aimed at creating compact yet highly productive crops. In modern agriculture, where every centner of yield counts, this variety occupies a niche for high-intensity crops that offer both grain potential and plant manageability.

Agronomic Profile

The key feature of SU Banatus is its unique habitus. With a plant height of 40–50 cm, it appears remarkably compact, which fundamentally changes the approach to crop management. This short stature is a distinct advantage: it provides exceptional resistance to lodging, even when high doses of nitrogen fertilizers are applied, allowing farmers to fully realize yield potential without the risk of crop loss due to wind or heavy rain.

A Defensive Shield

The intensive development type requires a robust immune system. Strube has paid particular attention to the phytosanitary safety of the hybrid. SU Banatus demonstrates strong field resistance to a wide range of pathogens that typically limit wheat yield:

• Powdery mildew and leaf septoria;
• Yellow and brown rust;
• Fusarium head blight.

This comprehensive immunity allows for a reduction in fungicide usage during periods of unfavorable weather, which serves as a significant economic benefit for both large agricultural holdings and private farms.

Market Position

SU Banatus is the choice for growers who prioritize intensive cultivation technologies. The variety unleashes its productivity in fertile soils with adequate mineral nutrition. Thanks to its genetics, it efficiently utilizes every millimeter of moisture and every kilogram of fertilizer, converting them into plump, high-quality grain with excellent baking properties. It is a balanced choice for those seeking the reliability of German quality, backed by consistent performance in the field.
