Wheat Berwald

German Breeding for High Yields

The winter wheat "Berwald" from the renowned German breeding house Strube represents the European approach to intensive agriculture. In an era where climatic risks are becoming a deciding factor in crop production, this variety demonstrates the stability characteristic of modern German breeding science.

Agronomic Potential and Phytosanitary Defense

The core value of "Berwald" lies in its balanced resistance profile. Under conditions of high humidity and infection pressure typical for many regions of Eastern Europe, the variety shows marked resistance to key cereal pathogens:

• Yellow rust and brown rust;
• Septoria leaf and glume blotch;
• Fusarium head blight;
• Powdery mildew.

Such genetic resistance allows farmers to optimize their fungicide application schedules, reducing pesticide load on crops without the risk of losing grain quality. The winter wheat growth habit ensures excellent overwintering and an early start to vegetation, which is critical for forming yield potential during unstable spring conditions.

Market Position

Today, Strube positions "Berwald" as a solution for farms focused on professional cereal production with an expectation of high quality. Utilizing this variety enables farmers to minimize risks associated with leaf and spike diseases, directly impacting grain filling and test weight. "Berwald" is a choice for those seeking proven German genetics adapted to the demanding requirements of the modern food-grade wheat market.
