Wheat ZU HENNER

German Genetics in the Field: The Potential of ZU Henner

When choosing winter wheat, farmers seek a balance between stability and intensity. ZU Henner from the German breeding house W. von Borries-Eckendorf & Co.KG is a solution for those accustomed to working with high-quality European germplasm, aiming for yields of 8–9 tons per hectare. Unlike many varieties focused solely on quantity, this one places a significant emphasis on the phytosanitary health of the crop.

Crop Health as the Foundation for Yield

The main distinguishing feature of this variety is its comprehensive resistance to pathogens. In high-humidity conditions, where the risk of fungal diseases increases, ZU Henner demonstrates remarkable resilience. It effectively withstands a spectrum of threats:

• Eyespot and powdery mildew — common challenges of early development.
• Yellow and brown rust — major issues during late growth stages, which the variety handles with minimal intervention.
• Septoria and Fusarium head blight — critical factors for maintaining grain quality and safety.

Who is this variety for?

Winter wheat ZU Henner is optimal for farms employing intensive cultivation practices. Good lodging resistance allows the variety to efficiently utilize mineral nutrition, channeling it into grain filling rather than excess biomass. If you are looking to minimize fungicide use without sacrificing yield volume, this W. von Borries-Eckendorf & Co.KG variety is a reliable asset for your crop rotation.

It is important to note that "Henner" requires strict adherence to agronomic practices. Its full potential is realized on fertile soils, where the crop can achieve the stated 8–9 tons. In regions with unpredictable climates, this variety acts as an insurance policy, thanks to its genetically inherent disease protection.
