Wheat Smaragd

Stability and Yield: The "Смарагд" Hybrid Profile

Ukrainian breeding by "Ліст" continues to gain traction in the mid-early crop segment, providing farmers with balanced solutions for zones with volatile climatic conditions. The sunflower hybrid "Смарагд" has emerged as a direct response to the market demand for high phytosanitary resistance while maintaining robust yield potential.

Biological Parameters and Adaptability

This model features a predictable vegetation period ranging from 100 to 110 days. This allows farmers to flexibly schedule sowing and harvesting, effectively utilizing soil moisture. The plant's physical characteristics ensure ease of mechanized harvesting: the average stem height is 100–120 cm, which is an optimal indicator for lodging resistance even during high wind conditions.

Phytopathological Resistance

The core advantage of "Смарагд" lies in its "immune map." The breeders at "Ліст" focused on protection against the most common and economically hazardous pathogens that annually reduce yields in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine:

• Comprehensive resistance to Phomopsis and Phoma, critical for preventing early crop wilting.
• High tolerance to various types of rot, minimizing loss risks under adverse weather conditions during the head maturation period.
• Genetic resistance to the sunflower moth, which reduces the need for additional insecticide treatments and lowers overall production costs.

Economic Efficiency

With a claimed yield potential of 4–6 tons per hectare, "Смарагд" belongs in the high-performance hybrid category. However, experts note that achieving these figures depends directly on adherence to fertilizer protocols and plant density. For farms focused on stable results in moderate-risk zones, this hybrid serves as a tool that minimizes the impact of biological stressors on the final gross harvest.
