OMSK KORUND

Omsk Korund is a mid-season variety of hard spring wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) characterized by large grains with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 35 to 50 grams. The plant has a semi-upright culm, a cylindrical, loose, and strongly colored spike. The grains are elongated, white, with short awns. The variety is characterized by high vitreousness of the grain (81%), gluten content of 32.1%, and grain density of 788 g/l, which ensures excellent pasta qualities ranging from satisfactory to high. Omsk Korund threshes easily and is resistant to lodging, as well as possessing resistance to diseases such as brown rust and powdery bunt.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Ural and West Siberian regions, where the average yield is about 29 c/ha, and reaches 30 to 35 c/ha in the Omsk region, which exceeds the indicators of the Omsk Amber standard by 1–5 c/ha. The maximum registered yield was 46 c/ha in the Novosibirsk region and 5.77 t/ha at the Shcherbakul Experimental Station of the Omsk region. Thanks to its characteristics, Omsk Korund is a reliable choice for producers focused on obtaining quality grain with good yield.

This wheat variety is widely used for the production of pasta due to the high gluten content and vitreousness of the grain, which ensures excellent technological properties of flour. Moderate resistance to drought and lodging allows Omsk Korund to be successfully grown in various climatic conditions, ensuring a stable yield and high product quality.
