OMSK LAZURITE

Omsk Lazurite is a new variety of hard spring wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) created at the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Omsk Agrarian Research Center". It is characterized by medium maturity and belongs to the hard-deformed variety. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Western Siberia and Eastern Siberia regions, including Omsk and Novosibirsk Oblasts. Omsk Lazurite is distinguished by high stable yield, which on average during the period 2015–2022 exceeds the standard Pearl of Siberia by 0.37 t/hm2, reaching a maximum of 5.7 t/hm2 (57.2 c/hm2) in Novosibirsk Oblast. Average yield is about 33-34 c/hm2 in the aforementioned regions.

The variety has good pasta qualities, making it attractive for the production of pasta products. The grain differs in high quality indicators: the mass of 1000 grains varies from 39 to 47 grams, protein content is 13.92%, and gluten is 28.3%, which corresponds to the standard level. In addition, Omsk Lazurite outperforms the standard in grain nature by 10 g/l and in vitreousness by 3.4%.

Special attention is paid to the variety's resistance to adverse factors. Omsk Lazurite is resistant to lodging, drought, brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, and solid head smut. Under field conditions, damage from brown rust and powdery head smut is noted as very weak and weak, respectively, which contributes to maintaining the yield and its quality. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is a reliable choice for agricultural production in regions with similar climatic conditions.
